Resort Showcase – Disney’s Old Key West
Recent refurbishments have kept this Deluxe resort feeling fresh, clean and inviting.
Amid the hustle and bustle of all there is to do at Walt Disney World sits Old Key West Resort, a property defined by its relaxing atmosphere, welcoming guestrooms and comforting eats.
Opened in 1991, Old Key West is primarily targeted for Disney Vacation Club members, though rooms and villas are also booked for non-DVC guests.
The resort’s more than 700 rooms are organized into small “neighborhoods” woven around the Lake Buena Vista Golf Course, offering up views of the fairways and surrounding woods.
Rooms and common spaces are fresh, colorful and laidback, making it an ideal place to rest your head after a long day of park hopping.
Rooms
A huge perk to staying in a DVC-outfitted room are the advanced amenities, making this resort feel truly like your home-away-from-home.
Old Key West is home to some of the roomiest accommodations on property. Guests can choose from a Deluxe Studio, and 1-, 2- or 3-bedroom villas.
Deluxe Studios sleep up to four adults across two queen beds. One-bedroom villas hold up to five, with a king bed, a queen sleeper and twin sleeper chair. Two-bedroom villas suit up to nine adults between a king and two queen beds, along with a queen and twin sleeper.
Of course, the three-bedroom Grand Villas comfortably sleep up to 12 adults, with one king bed, two queen beds, two double beds, and a queen and twin sleeper.
Nestled around the golf course, all guestrooms share similar views of water, woodlands or fairways.
Amenities
One of the more luxurious parts of staying at a primarily-DVC resort are the amenities. Guests can truly feel at home with a variety of comforts and appliances not always found at other resorts. Toasters, microwaves, soaker tubs, coffeemakers and beverage coolers add to the value of the Deluxe Studios. Plus, if you opt for one of the many villas onsite, you’ll upgrade even more with fully-equipped kitchens, washers, dryers and whirlpool tubs.
When you’ve had your fill of the parks, or if you’re enjoying a resort day, Old Key West has plenty of pool space to help you chill out.
The main Sandcastle Pool is the central hub for pool games, pool parties, trivia, and a 125-foot waterslide that runs right through – you guessed it – a giant sandcastle. Spouting dolphins, a kiddie pool and a dry sauna in the nearby “lighthouse” make this an ideal place to park the whole family.
If you’re looking for a more restful poolside afternoon, try out one of the property’s three leisure pools, each outfitted with its own whirlpool spa.
Guests of Old Key West can take advantage of these additional resort amenities:
- Nightly Campfire Activities
- Movies Under the Stars at the Sandcastle Pool Deck
- Video Games, Table Games and Shuffleboard at Conch Flats Community Hall
- Old Key West Exercise Room
- Bike and Surrey Rentals
- Guided Fishing Excursions
- Tennis, Pickleball, Basketball and Volleyball Courts
- Jogging Trails
- Three On-Site Playgrounds
Transportation
Guests of Old Key West can hop on the Disney Bus Transportation system to get around between parks, resorts and Disney Springs. A water taxi is also a great, traffic-free alternative for those heading to and from Disney Springs.
If you’re looking for a more direct option, ride share services and Minnie Vans are also available to get around property.
Of course, you can always choose to rent or bring your own car, as complimentary overnight parking has recently returned to Walt Disney World resorts.

A lesser-known gem, Olivia’s Cafe brings comfort food together with exotic flavors. Swing by for buttermilk fried chicken, fresh fish or coconut curry!
