Grocery Delivery at WDW
Let’s be honest, dining in Walt Disney World isn’t cheap.
Whether you’re traveling in a pair or with your extended family, budgeting for food can be just as crucial as budgeting for your park tickets or transportation.
It’s key to remember that Walt Disney World lets you bring your own food into the parks. Of course, there are stipulations – like no outside alcoholic beverages or glass containers – but planning your meals ahead can save time and money alike.
Luckily, you don’t have to budget space in your carry-on for jars of peanut butter and jelly. Grocery delivery services in and around Orlando can make sure your room is stocked with all of the comforts from home, and then some.
But where to start? We’ve compiled a list of some of our favorite grocery delivery options below. You can meal plan and order before you’re even packed, or hit submit on last-minute items you’re craving while in the parks.
Garden Grocer – A “household” name in the Walt Disney World community, Garden Grocer has been delivering to Orlando resorts for over 15 years. They stock more than 5,000 grocery items to choose from, including alcohol and frozen foods.
You can order up to several months ahead of your trip, knowing that your groceries will be waiting for you at bell services when you arrive. They even offer promotions for placing your order early, so keep an eye out on their website for updated discount information.
While Garden Grocer has longevity and name recognition, it’s important to know that they also come with a $40 minimum purchase, and a $15 delivery fee for all orders under $250. They also have longer delivery windows of 4-5 hours, so it may be slightly more difficult if you have a strict itinerary.
Vacation Grocery Delivery – Staffed by current and former Disney Cast Members, Vacation Grocery Delivery starts by reserving your date. Dates can fill up 2-4 weeks in advance, so they recommend you plan ahead, even though you have until the week of your trip to finalize your wish list.
They shop exclusively at Publix for their guests. You’ll pay exactly what you’d pay in-store, and can even apply promos or coupons towards your order. If you’re staying on Disney property, a flat rate delivery fee of $25 will be applied to your bill.
Vacation Grocery Delivery even offers custom gift baskets, so you can have a personalized treat made up for everyone in your party. An added bonus? They look to hire former cast members who were laid off due to COVID-19, so supporting this small business goes a longer way than others.
Dizzy Dolphin – Founded by Disney Vacation Club members, Dizzy Dolphin delivers to Orlando resorts seven days a week.
Once you pick a delivery date, you can start to build your shopping list. Add specific brands and sizes, or let the staff help you flesh out the details. After your shopping list is submitted, you’ll receive an itemized quote for everything you picked. You can modify, add or delete items before finalizing your cart and submitting payment.
You’ll need to order a minimum of $50 worth of goods, and consider the $14 delivery fee for all orders under $250.
Round out your order with goods from their list of specialty items, including gift baskets or foods to fit a variety of dietary restrictions.
Amazon Fresh & Amazon Prime Now– As with most Amazon purchases, groceries ordered through Amazon Fresh or Amazon Prime Now have a quick turnaround time.
Simply enter the address of your resort, and start building your shopping list. You’ll need a Prime membership to qualify for free delivery, and depending on where you’re staying in or around the Orlando area, you may have an order minimum to qualify.
You can schedule a pickup or a two-hour delivery window to get your order. As with other services, if you choose resort delivery, your order will be held at bell services. If ordering alcohol, you’ll need to be present with a valid ID to accept those items.
These options shout convenience, but be aware that it’s not uncommon for items on your list to go in and out of stock regularly.
Other services we’ve used and love include Deliveries by Dee, Sara Shop 4 You, Walmart+ and Publix Instacart.
Whichever delivery option fits you best, you’ll want to consider the guest room you’ll be calling home. All Disney resorts come equipped with at least a beverage cooler to store a few drinks or snacks, though not all have a microwave. If your room is without, you can request one from the front desk. Since they’re offered on a first come, first serve basis, make sure to get your request in early if you plan to reheat anything.
Certain moderate or value suites may come with a kitchenette, but likely not enough cooler space for a full grocery haul.
If you’re hoping to cook real meals or store larger items, you’ll have to look towards a Deluxe Villa. These rooms generally come with full kitchens, including a full-sized refrigerator, oven and stove, as well as cabinet space. They often also have dishwashers and a full set of plates and cutlery.
No matter where you stay on Disney property, your room will have a coffee maker and either pods or packets of grounds. Housekeeping will keep you stocked with as much coffee as you’ll want throughout your stay – just ask.
Not sure if your resort has what you need? Find out which properties have a full kitchen, and let us know if you need to modify or upgrade your reservation. So many options can be overwhelming, but our agents are here and ready to help.
Even if you don’t plan to meal prep for rope drop to fireworks, knowing that you have an option for more than just Mickey pretzels and popcorn can help make your resort stay a little more comfortable.
