Celebrate HER Story at WDW
Women’s History Month is in full swing, and through the end of March, you can help celebrate HER story at Walt Disney World.
Disney movies and attractions have always featured strong female characters who break the mold and surpass expectations to make their own way.
“Celebrate HER Story” is taking character development one step further, featuring not only beloved princesses and underdogs, but also the engineers, Imagineers and all of the female cast members who make their mark on the Disney experience.
Guests can check out a lineup of female musical artists performing at Epcot’s America Gardens Theatre, or join a Disney singalong at Disney Springs.
You can celebrate the female chefs and bakers that create your favorite Disney treats with a special array of menus and snacks across property. From a champagne-flavored Cinderella cupcake on Main Street, to a twist on a black forest cupcake modeled after Madam Leota, the Disney kitchens are turning to female designers and characters for inspiration. Even hot spots like Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar and the Ganachery at Disney Springs have announced special dishes curated by their female chefs and bakers.
And if you’ve hopped on the Encanto bandwagon, you’ll want to swing by the Art of Animation or All-Star Movies Resort to get a taste of the magical chorizo arepas and Luisa’s Push-Up cake pop.
As you digest all of that girl-power, be on the lookout for photo spots around property to snap a picture with silhouettes of strong female Disney characters. The colorful banners will adorn public spaces from hotels to Disney Springs for the month of March.
Celebrating HER Story with MVT
Women’s History Month at Walt Disney World is going to be full of female energy. At Magical Vacations Travel, we like to celebrate our illustrious female agents year-round.
You may have heard of, or worked with our agents in the past. But in honor of Women’s History Month, we’re shining a light on some of the female voices that keep Magical Vacations Travel at the top of the game.
Ever since her first trip to Orlando as an infant. Jessica has had her finger on the pulse of all-things-Walt Disney World. She uses her personal experience and frequent visits to the parks make sure her clients know everything that awaits them – from new merch, to festival snacks and navigating queue wait times.
Even though she’s no stranger to the Magic Kingdom, one of Jessica’s top tips for newcomers and seasons vets alike is to simply take a few moments to soak it all in.
“It’s simple, but pausing on Main Street for a few moments and just soaking in the atmosphere,” she said of her “must-do” activity. “Watching the balloons bob along, hearing the sound of the cavalcade or parade heading my way, smelling the sweet scents of the Confectionary.”
Jessica knows that one of the best ways to be able to appreciate the little details is to enlist the help of a travel agent. “Planning your vacation shouldn’t turn into a second job,” she said, and the versatility of the Magical Vacations Travel team makes all the difference. “We all come from very different walks of life, and have different reasons why we do this job, but I think we are all united in the fact that we truly care about our clients and also each other.”
Jessica’s infectious energy makes its way into every trip she plans, and her clients know that they’ll get a personalized experience, every single time.
More than ten years in the travel industry has given Holly the opportunities and expertise to make your family trip as special as one of her own.
Holly joined the Magical Vacations Travel team shortly after her first daughter was born in 2010. Her client base expanded and diversified until she decided to make it her full-time gig in 2018.
She and her family have experienced Disney by land and by boat – even sailing on the Disney Magic for the Inaugural British Isles cruise, complete with Harry Potter “broomstick training,” castle exploration, and hunting for the Loch Ness monster.
When in Walt Disney World, Holly makes it a point to pause and take in the magic with food, fireworks, and the famed Cinderella’s Castle. “If I could have just those on a trip to WDW, I could be content to never get on an attraction,” she said. “But one of my favorite things about WDW is just taking it all in. I love to sit on a park bench and watch people, peruse a gift shop and just walk around and see the WDW through a child’s eyes.”
Whether you want to people watch, or get on every ride you can fit in before fireworks, Holly suggests an agent to help build the trip you want.
“Friends are always great people to sound ideas off of, but they will always have their own strong opinions on where to stay and how to ‘do Disney,” she said. “A good agent should always be able to listen to what matters to you, what your needs are as a couple or a family and cater options that fit those needs.”
A Massachusetts native, Samantha says not being an Orlando local makes each new trip all the more exciting – a feeling she thinks helps to build anticipation for all of her clients.
Since first traveling to Walt Disney World as a teenager, Samantha has planned trips to meet a variety of needs. From large groups, to age-specific and even traveling while expecting, she’s seen it all. Her top tip for Disney newcomers is to remember just how much there is to see, and accepting that it can’t all be done in one trip. “Try to slow down and enjoy your surroundings,” she said, suggesting visitors check out the quiet early hours at World Showcase or finding a lesser-known hideaway for a quick photo without the crowds.
Samantha’s Walt Disney World bucket list is never complete. Some of the top items on her still-to-do list are staying at the Grand Floridian Villas or Riviera, and taking the plunge with the Keys to the Kingdom Tour.
Samantha suggests using an agent for your next trip so you can save not only time and energy, but also the sanity of wading through all of the info that’s out there. “Most of us have stayed in almost every resort, dined at most restaurants and gone on all the rides,” she said. “We have a wide array of knowledge, so we can share our personal experiences and not just what you read online.”
Sharon caught the Disney bug even before her first trip to Orlando in 1976. While she’s seen the parks grow in both size and innovation over the years, she fondly remembers the simplicity of those early days. “There was no detailed planning,” she said. “You just showed up, waited in line for attractions and had fun.”
Since joining the Magical Vacations Travel team, Sharon has used her vast knowledge to help build memorable trips with as much care as she’d plan her own.
Her advice to Disney newcomers is also to accept that you can’t do it all in just one trip. “A first visit can be overwhelming,” she said. “Don’t get obsessed with having to plan every minute of every day.” She recommends taking the time to sit on a park bench to people watch and take in the detail of each park.
Sharon also suggests a way to let yourself relax and immerse yourself in the magic is to enlist the help of a travel agent.
“We treat our clients as if they are members of our extended family,” she said. “We are here for them from the first point of contact and everything in between until they return home.” She understands that this could be a once-in-a-lifetime trip, and aims to use her bank of Disney knowledge to plan the most magical experiences possible.
