Brushing Up on Pixie Dust: MVT Agents Sharpen Skills at Walt Disney World
The atrium aboard the Disney Wish was too beautiful to skip a group photo.
Last week, more than two dozen Magical Vacations Travel agents assembled in Orlando to participate in an annual Agent Education Program at Walt Disney World.
Over the course of a few action-packed days, our agents got an in-depth look at Disney’s upcoming celebrations, sneak peeks at newly-refurbished rooms, as well as a personal tour of Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, the Disney Wish.
Day One
The first official day of the program brought us together at Disney’s Yacht Club Convention Center. For many of our agents, it was the first chance getting to meet one another in person, having worked alongside each other virtually from various parts of the country. The excitement of the program and collecting in one place was more than enough have everyone feel like family, and we hit the ground running.
A Disney representative spent the morning with us, reviewing the company’s campaigns and best practices for sharing our work and client stories through social media.
We were even lucky enough to get a surprise visit from the boss himself, Mickey Mouse.
After a comfortable lunch break at Ale & Compass Restaurant, the group boarded a bus for an afternoon of resort tours.
We started off at Disney’s Caribbean Beach, where a fresh facelift has brought new life to rooms in the Trinidad section of the resort.
The guest rooms are bright, with clean lines and colorful details evoking the feel of tropical underwater scenes. We especially loved the consideration put into making the rooms comfortable and accessible, like pull-down beds, bathroom footstools, and even a convertible coffee table that raises up so you don’t have to slouch over when eating or using your devices.
Shifting gears to the Polynesian Village Resort, our agents immediately breathed in the exotic aromas of the fan-favorite lobby before getting a glimpse of the resort’s new Moana-themed rooms. Immersive theming was woven throughout not just the artwork, but also the furniture, lighting and textiles. These rooms make wonderful use of space, allowing for more guests without sacrificing comfort.
Our agents got an exclusive look at newly-refurbished rooms at Disney’s Caribbean Beach, Polynesian Village and Grand Floridian Resorts.
We rounded out our tours next door at the Mary Poppins rooms of Disney’s flagship Grand Floridian Resort. Our agents were collectively in awe of the refreshing blue and white color scheme, punctuated with elegant molding, luxurious linens, and upscale amenities. The room even has sweet features hidden throughout, like glass penguins in the chandelier and Mary Poppins’ umbrella upon a lampshade.
Thoroughly impressed, our group dispersed for the evening to explore more of the resort grounds, log some park time, or grab a quick bite before recharging at our own resorts.
Day Two
The next day started out with just as much excitement, as our agents boarded a bus for Port Canaveral to tour the Disney Wish.
Many had not yet seen the Wish in person, and we were all eager to board and get an in-depth look at Disney Cruise Line’s newest member of the fleet.
Our expert guides walked and talked us around the whole of the ship. From the stunning atrium to guest quarters and immersive spaces for kids of all ages, the Wish exceeded our expectations for what a cruising experience could mean. We even visited the ever-popular Senses Spa, and learned about exclusive add-ons like access to the adults-only “Rainforest” for a uniquely relaxing retreat.
After a quick stop for lunch at Marceline Market, the onboard buffet, we finished up with a view of the rotational dining areas and the Oceaneer’s Club for younger sailors.
Stepping onto the Disney Wish, you’re welcomed not only by name, but also by Cinderella and Prince Charming.
One of our favorite takeaways from touring the ship was watching families step off the gangway and be welcomed by Cinderella and Prince Charming, perched on a balcony overlooking the main atrium. The excitement to be embarking on a vacation at sea brought to life every inch of the ship, a tangible feeling that energized our agents for the trip back to Orlando.
That boost carried our agents through to the evening with a private dinner at EPCOT’s Norway Pavilion, followed by a dessert party and VIP showing of EPCOT Forever along the Rue de Paris in France. Fireworks were a magical touch to wrap up our whirlwind agenda of trainings, tours, and events.
It’s truly amazing how much you can learn, see, and do with a two-day summit at Walt Disney World. Magical Vacations Travel agents walked away with a wealth of knowledge and action items to put in motion upon our return, and has us counting down the days until we come “home” again.
